We are delighted to announce that Tommy Cawston has agreed to join our Advisory Board. The Advisory Board will advise on matters that directly concern b1oke’s programmes and fundraising efforts and is made up of people from varied back grounds who all share a passion for men's mental health.
Tommy is the Chief Executive Officer of the fantastic Matt Hampson Foundation a charity set up to inspire and support young people seriously injured through sport.
Former Leicester Tiger Matt Hampson had his accident in 2005 during an England Under 21 rugby training session, Matt has battled hard to live as normal a life as possible. Paralysed from the neck down and breathing via the aid of a ventilator, it is testament to him that he decided to set up the Foundation so that others who have suffered similar catastrophic injuries through sport can receive support and assistance to allow them to Get Busy Living again.
Tommy has been an integral part of the huge success of the Foundation as it has grown over the past decade. Along with the charity’s fantastic team of staff and volunteers he has worked tirelessly to make Matt’s visions a reality. The most significant achievement has undoubtedly been the construction of the Get Busy Living Centre which has helped to redefine the Foundation and its activities. With several more exciting developments in the pipeline the Matt Hampson Foundation is aiming to support more and more beneficiaries to Get Busy Living.
With Tommy now sitting on the Advisory Board it is the intention that there will be many collaborative efforts from both organisations that will benefit the mental health and wellbeing of many men.
Welcome aboard Tommy.
